THE POWER OF YOUR STORY

The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can. Neil Gaiman

Today, I was inspired by Zach King. If you don’t know him, he’s a beast content creator. He started his path on Youtube teaching people how to make movies. From there, he moved to Vine, where he became crazy famous. Nowadays, you can catch him making super creative videos on TickTock. Some would even call it “magic”.

What inspired me about Zach is his ability to tell stories. Which reminded me of a quote I heard from the late Kobe Bryant.

Storytelling is bigger than just entertainment. Our goal at #GranityStudios is to inspire young minds to dream, achieve, and excel. Follow our journey at @granity! — Kobe Bryant

When I hear Zach speak about story telling, it gives me hope for the average person like myself. Story telling isn’t reserved for Disney or Warner Brothers studios. You and I have our own stories. These stories are being written every single day. They have ups and downs, good days and bad days. Nevertheless, they are our own stories.

You may think your story is not that interesting. I know I think those thoughts all the time. I’m the first to admit, I don’t think my life is all that interesting when I compare it to Ironman or Beauty and the Beast. But you know what, it’s my story, not someone elses. In my story, I get to choose what or how it will end up. You also have that same power.

And, it’s not just making our choices, it’s the exploration of the story. What pain in your story can help someone else? What missteps have you made which could help someone in their journey?

Who are you?

What is fueling your story?

Where would you like your story to take you?

When will you begin to dig deep into your own story?

Why does your story matter?

Dig into your story. This is what I am focusing on now more than ever. I can’t write anyone else’s story, until I first write my own. And you know what, I want my story to be the best it can be. I want to research and dig my own heart and mind for gold to share with others. I want my life to be a fragrance for others to feel inspired.

This is the power of story telling. And your story, cannot be duplicated. You are the one and only. Your mind is powerful. You can become anything your heart desires. But, if you do not converse with your heart and mind. If you do not take the time on yourself, you will only be living someone else’s story.

We are created to live our own story, no one else’s. Your path is beautiful. Your pains, your hurts, your brokenness — it’s all part of an amazing story. You may be going through hell now, but don’t stop. You may not see light at the end of the tunnel, but it’s there.

Keep digging into your own heart. Take the time — you have something to share.

Always keep learning — a.
