NEW SOFTWARE FOR YOUR MIND
I truly believe in positive synergy, that your positive mindset gives you a more hopeful outlook, and belief that you can do something great means you will do something great. — Russell Wilson
I was listening to a story from a multi millionaire about his struggles. He had a crazy childhood. He grew up with a tough dad. A dad who was absent most of his life. A dad who had him cleaning the barn at 8 years old. A dad who never watched his hockey games but instead, would drop him off outside the ice rink. This millionaire craved attention and time with his dad, but never got it.
It weighed on him most of his life. He had a successful run but at the age of 30, he lost it all. All the hard work and time he had spent from 17–30 seemed wasted. His dad was now on his death bed battling cancer.
He asked his dad, “were there any moments when I made you proud?” His dad responded with no answer. This millionaire was even more heart broken than before. His dad died soon after and he moved back into his house with his mom. He was heart broken and his dream looked like a disaster.
He had a friend talk to him about real estate. He seemed keen to get into it, and get into it he did. What really grabbed his attention was finding a mentor in real estate. This mentor believed in him, his hard work and who he was as a person. His mentor encouraged him and told him “your awesome.”
These were words the millionaire didn’t grow up hearing. He was shocked to hear them and his mentor noticed this right away.
Here’s the conversation that REALLY stuck out to me.
When his mentor noticed how little encouragement he ever received, he asked him, “who is someone you think is really awesome?” The millionaire took a bit of time to respond and said, “I really like Clint Eastwood. He’s sort of brash, handsome and cool.”
So, the mentor told him, “I want you everyday to tell yourself that you are brash, handsome and cool. In fact, I want you to tell yourself that a thousand times a day. Hell, maybe even two thousand.”
So, the millionaire began saying this to himself. “I am brash, I am cool, I am handsome.” He did this for several weeks. Then one day in the shower he said, “I am the greatest real estate agent.”
This phrase just sort of slipped out. But, when he said it, he knew he was on to something. So, he began telling himself, “I am the greatest real estate agent at my company. I am the greatest real estate agent in my area. I am the greatest real estate agent in the country.”
It didn’t take long for the millionaire to begin to sell homes. Not only did he become the best at his company, but later on, he bought the company.
This leads me to you, me and a question to consider. What do you want to become? And, are you saying the right things for your mind and your heart to succinct?
I’ve mentioned before how I’ve used post it notes and liquid chalk to write down positive affirmations around the house. I do that, because it works. I get inspired. I start to see the dream in front of me. I start to become what I think about.
I want to be a great writer. I want to travel around the world and inspire people. I want people’s lives to be better. I want them to see their dreams come to reality. I want people to say, “Anthony helped me become the best version of myself.”
If that’s what I want, I need to reverse engineer my words. I need to tell myself, “I’m a great writer.” I need to speak into existence, “I am a great communicator.” I need to say it and see it for myself. I need to imagine the places I will travel. The books I will write and the people who will listen and learn.
That’s what I need to do, but what about you? Are you self visualizing your dreams and goals? If not, go for it. It will change your life and change your whole state.
We have one life to live. Always keep learning.
