‘What a glorious God! He gives us salvation over and over, then daily he carries our burdens! Pause in his presence’ Psalms 68:19

On Friday I got hit with what felt like a flu bug. I thought I would be able to knock it out. It’s now Monday and last night I was in bed at 7:30pm. I woke up today sweaty and filled with a weezing cough mixed with a sinus avalanche. My eyes are watering for some reason. My head hurts. However, I committed to the process. I will beat this and times will be better.

When I read this verse in Psalms I could very easily be like, “when you gonna carry my burden Jesus. I’m dying over here, WTF!”

But instead, I look at the burdens he is carrying.
My bills are paid.
We have food in the fridge.
The kids are healthy.
I have a job.
I can walk.
I can see.
I’ve got a great church.
I’ve got great friends.
I’ve got great parents.
The sun is shining.
We have a place to live.

It takes zero creativity to see what you don’t have. I may not have a lot of energy at the moment, but I do know that God is faithful.

The end of this verse says to ‘pause in His presence’.

I think that right there is the gold in this moment. We have more time than ever before at home. Are you maximizing that time in His presence or is that time maximized on Netflix?

If you don’t follow the rules to the game — it’s impossible to expect the results promised.

If God says he carries our burdens daily and you aren’t experiencing that in your life — I wonder if you are ‘pausing in His presence’?

What does ‘pausing in His presence’ look like?

It starts with your attention. And your attention is the most valuable thing you possess. The devil will do whatever it takes to steal your attention away from God.

What owns your attention?

If you can master that — you can master your life.

Let’s pray:
Jesus, thank you for taking these burdens off of me. I want to pause in your presence today. I’m not sure what that looks like, but I trust you to lead me. I want to invest in your presence. Forgive me for missing those moments with you. I want to get back on track. Amen.
