LIVING IN THE NOW

Living in the past is regret, living in the future is worry. — Rob Bell

Today I’m taking an inventory of my mind regarding this quote above from Rob Bell. I wonder how much of my day is spent in the past or in the future? Do I worry? If yes, why? Do I have any regrets of decisions of the past? If yes, why?

I have so many questions of the past or future, but also of the now. Like, how can I better at being present? What’s keeping my attention from living in the now? Why don’t I do it more often?

I’m a pretty regimented healthy guy. However, I notice after a week or even two weeks of being healthy, these cravings for junk are even more present. I wonder if it’s a self sabotage of my own self? I wonder if it’s something else in my past which is unresolved and maybe it’s holding me back?

It doesn’t seem like much, but I wonder. I do think there is some correlation to it. This is me just thinking out loud. I’m noodling with these questions and ideas inside my own head.

The other week I heard this quote that said, “use your mess and turn it into your message.”

The things in our life which are messed up. The losses in our life. The series of unfortunate events, those messes. Yes, use those to tell your story. These are the pathways to freedom.

I think the now is more important than we realize. No one can predict the future but we can take action now. When I heard Rob Bell speak recently, he emphasized doing those things which you are curious about and may have doubts about.

For me, I’m curious about writing and my podcast. I have doubts about it nearly every time. However, every time I finish a podcast, I get inspired and brings me energy. Even if I’m not comfortable sharing them yet, I am doing the work. I’m in the now and that brings me courage.

Rob Bell went on to say, “Until you go for it, they (your dreams) will haunt you. We have the power of life and death. So, using that time to go for your dream will bring you freedom. While, neglecting the curiosity, will bring the dream death.”

I like all of this type of thinking. I love putting my mind in check as to why it is thinking that way and if that’s what I want to be thinking and why I should be thinking it. Our minds our powerful and can accomplish whatever it is we want. I love that. Nothing is impossible to anyone and You are good enough.

You already have everything you need to accomplish your goals. Just think about that for a day or two. You have everything you need. Breathe … and say it again, “I have everything I need.”

Always keep learning. a.
