I WAS SCARED AF THE OTHER DAY — HERE’S WHY

‘But in the day that I’m afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart.’ Psalms 56:3

A few weeks back, right around the time we all went into quarantine — my wife got sick 😷 . At first, it didn’t seem like a big deal. But, with all of the Covid-19 updates I was getting and seeing friends in New York City ill — I got worried AF.

Chantelle (my bride) has pre-existing conditions like asthma and chronic bronchitis. Hearing, reading and seeing reports of people with pre-existing conditions being more susceptible to Covid started to really mess me up.

I was like — is this it? Do I have enough life insurance for her? Will there be ventilators at the hospital if she has to go? Will the kids catch it too? Will I get it as well. Are we all f’d? Is this our time to go? CUSS.

I’m sure you have friends or similar situations. It’s f’n scary. You don’t know what is going on or what is true.

Seeing her sick was tough. It was bad for her. So bad, that I finally made her get to the doctor. I’m not going to get into the whole debacle about “if” she got tested for covid-19 becasue it’s a f’n 💩 storm. But, she did get an x-ray for pneumonia — which she had.

At this point — I was like WTF!

The doctor gave her super rad antibiotics. Then I got sick. Very similar symptoms, but not quite as bad as her. WTF is going on!

And that my friends is what FEAR looks like in the flesh.

“Fears are nothing more than a state of mind.” — Napolean Hill.

I don’t think any of us like to be caught in a web of fears. I know for sure I don’t. But what do you do when you find yourself on the tea cups ride of fears? You feel like you’re spinning and spinning. You don’t know which way is up from down or side from side.

I can’t tell you what to do but this is what helped me.

Quiet your mind

I made it mandatory to spend time with God. I found the scriptures I needed, like this one today — Psalms 56:3. I made it my daily mantra. I surrounded my morning with Faith and used my words to build my day.

‘So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you. ‘ James (Jacob) 4:7

Turn off the noise

I talked about this the other day about controlling the bombardment of messages. Maybe you like the news, if it affects you negatively — it ain’t worth it. Some of you may enjoy social media, which is great. However, if you feel it is depleting your energy or joy — it ain’t worth it. This is when you must be the gate keeper to your mind and soul.

And, the reason you are bombarded by these messages — is because YOU ARE SO VALUABLE. The devil wants your attention more than anything. If he gets that — he’s got you, period.

Impose your will

In sports you hear this term quite often. It’s basically saying, “we are going to dominate you in every way. We will intimidate you, we will out hustle you, we will own you the entire game.”

If you are being bombarded by fearful messaging, this is what I do. I impose my will on Fear. With the same energy it is trying to attack me — I will attack it. My mouth is full of fully automatic weapons. These weapons are God’s word and when used effectively — can liberate anyone or anything.

Don’t sleep on that. Your mouth can drop Hiroshima bombs on the enemy all day. Impose your will — right F’N NOW.

Put courage in others

I’ve heard it been said and do agree, teaching others is the greatest way to learn. If you are in a season of Fear and you are forging through it — help others on their journey.

Whatever you have learned this far — share with others. And when I mean share — put the courage you have inside of them.

‘…How easily we get puffed up over our opinions! But love builds up the structure of our new life . ‘ 1 Corinthians 8:1

Don’t let your knowledge “puff” you up, but instead share it with love. Someone needs what you have and what you’ve learned. We are all connected in some way. The Bible says, “we are one body with many parts.”

If you want to crush fear — do something today. Any of these things will F up fear. Don’t let it live anywhere near you.
