EVERETTE TAYLOR SAYS ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE AND HERE’S WHY

If people take anything from my music, it should be motivation to know that anything is possible as long as you keep working at it and don’t back down. — Eminem

Yesterday I listened to a story from Everette Taylor. A man who was young, full of dreams and lost it all. He shared about how he lived out of his car. It was a complete disaster and one in which he was utterly ashamed.

The big takeaway for me after hearing his story was “anything is possible.” When he was living in his car he had to figure out a way to make money. He knew his life was more than being “homeless.” So, he began to hustle his way out of his nightmare.

He knew standing on a street corner for a handout wasn’t going to work for him. He began to figure out a hustle. One of his first attempts was washing windows at a nearby gas station. His goal was to make enough money each day so he could stay in a nearby motel. It wasn’t an extravagant goal but it was one small step in the direction of his dream.

He was hungry for success. He was thirsty to learn. He knew he was created for something much more.

But here’s what really stuck with me.

Everette said, “what are some things you are interested in? Whatever you want to learn, anything is possible. If you want to be a coder, you can go online and learn how to code. The tools around us to learn are greater than any time before. Anything is at your finger tips if you want to learn”

So, what do you want to learn? What are you interested in? If you do a search on google, you will find all sorts of paid programs to learn anything you want. Even in the free form you can go to Youtube and watch videos of whatever you want to learn. NOTHING is stopping you to learn, except you.

But, I don’t have any money to pay for courses?

Ok, maybe you don’t have the few hundred bucks or couple of thousand for a course. I get that. But can you borrow it? Can you sell some items around the house? Can you watch some Youtube videos for ideas of ways to make a few thousand bucks? If Everette went out to wash windows to have a place to live, anything is possible for you.

Let me share a story that made me cry when it happened. Yes, it made me cry.

A friend of mine was once a general manager at the top restaurant in all of Newport Beach, California. His life was good. His restaurant was buzzing, everyone wanted to be there. Then, life happened and threw him a tough curveball. He got fired from his job. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, his ailing mother who was dying of cancer passed away.

Not only did he get fired and his mom pass away, but his wife wanted a divorce as well. He had just bought a house for them. He had spent thousands of dollars on Disneyland passes and other activities for his wife and family. They had just had their second baby and his world was destroyed.

He was jobless and borderline homeless. Everything that was making his world spin was destroyed. In fact, he was having severe mental health issues which was causing his job search to be a black hole.

Then on a Sunday night, while my wife and I were watching some shows together, we decided to order some Postmates. When the order arrived, I walked downstairs to pick up the food. To my surprise, it was my friend. My friend who was once the general manager of the best restaurant in Newport Beach.

I couldn’t believe my eyes.

I picked up the food, gave him a hug and invited him in. He said he couldn’t because he was still trying to make some extra cash to support his family. I shut the door and cried.

I cried because of how tough he had it. I also cried because of his resilience. He would not be stopped. He would not keel over. He would not be defeated. He continued to learn.

His story is still being written. Things are not as bad as they were and he is moving forward. He has landed a solid job and getting back on his feet and I truly believe anything is possible for him.

But what about you? What’s holding you back from your dream or goal in your life?

The other day I asked what kind of people you have in your life. Do you have “OQP” or “only quality people” around you? If not, why not? If not, can you find some? If you find them, can you bridge the gap to learn from them?

I believe you can. I, like Everette, believe anything is possible. Life is a marathon and not a sprint. If you can dream it, you can do it. In the words of Les Brown, “if you fall down, land on your back. If you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up.”

Maybe your reason is your family, friends or dream for your life. Whatever the 🤬 it is, ignite your reason daily. Spam post it notes all around you. Speak out your reason. Write out your reason. Share your reason. The only one holding you back is you. You are a champion. Greatness is still inside of you. It hasn’t gone anywhere, it just needs to be dug up.

I’m excited for you. I’m expectant for you. In a world where you can learn anything, you have limitless possibilities. If you feel you don’t — drown your doubts.

How do I drown my doubts? Maybe you can start here.

‘Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. ‘ Philippians 4:6–8

Drowning doubt is replacing it with faith and courage. If your mind is bombarded with worry, listen to stories of courage, watch documentaries of impossible turn arounds. Try reading autobiographies of people you admire. You’d be surprised how bad most of these successful titans had it. Incorporate more “OQP” in your life. Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.

Today is your day. Anything is possible. Just take one step at a time.
