DEAR LORD USE ME

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” — Isaiah‬ ‭6:8‬

This is a social climate unlike any other. We are facing new emotions, understandings and realities. It’s an uncomfortable time for all. If you’re white and reading this, I beg you to stop and ask yourself — ”why am I feeling discomfort?”

I was feeling stomach discomfort after eating some suspect pizza one night late. I didn’t like the discomfort at all. In fact, during the night I tried to make myself puke 🤮 — i felt so terrible.

There was a couple of options for my stomach discomfort. I could try and puke and make it go away or I could try and sleep it off.

I eventually did both and it worked. Stomach discomfort eradicated, mission accomplished.

The discomfort I am facing now over police brutality and the way black lives are treated in this country is completely different although many want to treat it like bad pizza.

Regarding systematic racism, we can’t just throw up and think everything is going to be gone. We also can’t just sleep through the discomfort and think it’s going to be better tomorrow. What we are facing requires real people to face the discomfort with hope and action.

If you’re someone who just hopes it all goes away, then that will happen for you. You will go back to living your life and won’t be included in these monumental miracles of change that are going to happen.

This verse in Isaiah says, “Use Me.” This is the time when those of us who want to be part of building a new society, a new culture can say, “Use Me.”

You don’t have to wait. You don’t need an invitation. Our brothers and sisters are crying in the streets for justice. May their cries be our cries. Their pain — our pain.

This is a post I believe we can all help change. Keep using your voice for justice on behalf of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Aumhad Arbery. When it comes to these influential places — let’s dream and believe for those to take their rightful places.

Let’s lend a hand to their greatness, their potential and their destiny. I’m so hopeful for a future like this and believe we will see it.

A miracle is happening in our country. A miracle for all to see. If you want to be included, voice out to God, “Use Me.”
