Daring To Open Your Eyes
What if you were prepared to see something new?
“Church is the only society that exists for the benefit of those who are not its members — William Temple”
Church is where we serve so we can see.
What do we see?
Leaders, potential, opportunity.
We see God’s gifts in their formative state.
A laboratory for greatness.
What do you see?
Most, when they come to church, arrive with their Moncler jacket of frustrations or problems.
Most are completely FREE of any thoughts of other people.
Life has become an avalanche on them.
They are under siege.
With little to no margin for other people.
BUT
That’s what church is for.
Others.
Their problems
Worries
Frustrations.
Therefore, leaders are there to do just that — lead.
Lead with a smile.
Lead with courage.
Lead with attitude.
If God is the ultimate rescue.
We are his force on Earth.
Finding those who are in need of help.
Eyes open — hearts full.
Who, what or where in our day is someone crying for help?
It’s a scary idea.
To actually care.
Wait, not to just care.
To do something about it.
Caring is easy.
Action is the hard part.
Not just seeing homelessness or brokenness.
But doing something about it.
Listening to that still small voice.
That whisper.
It says — help them.
And then, our minds give us a buffet of ideas of why we shouldn’t.
Then, the moment passes.
But, what if we were already prepared for these moments?
What if we daily asked God, “please help me see, so that I can serve”?
What if that was our daily bread that we bake?
It’s trust that holds us back.
Maybe you call it fear.
But it stems in trust.
We don’t trust because we don’t trust God to do his part.
We don’t leave Egypt because we fear the journey.
We fear the process.
We fear the Red Sea moments in our life.
I know I do.
My hope is I can get better.
My prayer is for my eyes to be opened.
My faith is to be a vessel instead of a victim.
Maybe that’s something we can all try one day ..
