A DAILY HABIT THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER

‘And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. ‘ Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV

‘Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. ‘ Jeremiah 29:13 AMP

If you need a pump up chapter of the Bible, this is the one.
Most will grab vs 11 and call it a day.
And, don’t get me wrong, vs 11 is a monster verse.
Here, check this one out too.

‘For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the L ord , ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. ‘ Jeremiah 29:11

Today’s verse is vs 13 but PLEASE read the full chapter of Jeremiah 29.
The people in this chapter are discouraged and in captivity.
It sucks and they don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Preachers and what not’s have given bad reports or let’s say ‘average’ reports.
Jeremiah bring some fresh truth to the situation.
And fresh truth is what we all need right now.
He’s heard from God and ready to bring the 💧.

In vs 13, it’s all about seeking and searching for God.
If you’ve read the Bible a little bit, this verse in Jeremiah should spark a verse many remember in Matthew. Check it out.

‘But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right — the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.’ Matthew 6:33–34

So God doesn’t just give the directive in the old testament, you see it here from Jesus in Matthew. But how or what does seeking God look like?

Have you ever obsessed about something?
I’ve had seasons of all sorts of obsessions.
Sometimes it’s been working out, cycling, collecting rare art, video games, sneakers and even sports. It was in these times I realized there was a bit of an addiction happening at the same time. Addiction, obsession, same thing right? ha!

This past year I took some time to figure out what my scripture for the year was going to be. I’ve never done that sort of thing before. But, I persisted and started reading the Bible more and just asking God, “Yo, God, any thoughts on what I need this year in 2020”? (When you pray, just do you. God hears enough fakes throughout his life.)

I felt like this year (and this has been my only year) God put in my heart to get into Psalm 91. Every day I’ve been reading Psalm 91 (pretty awesome given the circumstances now). As I read it, I started searching it more. I’d use different translations and see different words. Big picture, I was seeking to know Christ more. Funny enough, this season has turned out to be possibly the worst in one way but yet the best in others.

Seeking for me is time.
Time in His presence.
It started with 15 minutes in my car.
But now it turns into much more.
I want my time with God to be uninterrupted.
This habit of mine to write was formed out of that.
I want to know the Bible better.
I want to know Jesus more. I want my mind to explore and be renewed through the word of God. (Psalm 119:28)
So I developed a writing pattern. (Psalm 130:6)

Lastly, check your screen time on your phone.
Be fn honest with yourself.
This is the key to most anything you do. Self awareness.
Schedule time in seeking God and stick to it.
He will show up.
Especially now when times seem to be the darkest, the light hits the hardest.

You ever remember when they turn the lights on in the club at the end of the night — THAT BRIGHT! God’s there — waiting for you.

Let’s pray:
Jesus, I need you.
I’m deciding today to seek you.
Help me to see what that looks like for me.
I need the time with you.
I need your wisdom and understanding in this season.
I can’t wait for you to show up.
Just want to glorify you.
Amen.
